crazy love

This is a book that I have currently read, and I encourage all to read. It has changed the way I think and look at life. It was a very challenging and encouraging book...and the quickest book I have ever read.

If you want a good book to read...get this book! It was well worth the time. And try out some Francis Chan on podcast as well.

May you know that God loves you...and may that resonate in the core of your being...He is crazy about you...may that make you crazy about Him.

Check out the book's website on the side of this blog for more info on the book.

power of God

1) After the Philistines captured the Ark of God, they took it from the battleground at Ebenezer to the town of Ashdod. 2) They carried the Ark of God into the temple of Dagon and placed it beside an idol of Dagon. 3) But when the citizens of Ashdod went to see it the next morning, Dagon had fallen with his face to the ground in front of the Ark of the Lord! So they took Dagon and put him in his place again. 4) But the next morning the same thing happened—Dagon had fallen face down before the Ark of the Lord again. This time his head and hands had broken off and were lying in the doorway. Only the trunk of his body was left intact. 5) That is why to this day neither the priests of Dagon nor anyone who enters the temple of Dagon in Ashdod will step on its threshold. -------1 Samuel 5:1-5 NLT

-------------------
I read this passage the other day and then I reread it slower. This passage shows the power of God! It blew me away. The Israelites had recently lost a battle to the Philistines, and the Philistines stole the Ark of God.

Then when they took the Ark of God back to their camp, all broke loose. They decided to put the Ark of God, where else but where one of their many gods resided. They put the Ark in the room and left it there that night.

Then the next morning they come in and the god statue is on his face before the Ark! Talk about odd. They might have thought it was just an accident and put their god statue back in its place.

Though the next morning it happens again! And this time the statue is face down in front of the Ark of God again! This time the head is knocked off and even the hands were broken off the statue. Showing who the true God is!

This God is so powerful, no god can stand up against Him! He destroys these little "g" ....gods. He even goes so far as to cause them (the little gods) to worship the true God!

I even read that this god, Dagan, was viewed as the "god of rain and of the bountiful harvest". Maybe our God wanted to remind us (and the Philistines) who truly sends the rain and who provides the bountiful harvest in our lives! May we never forget His greatness!

How many days left?

As beautifully illustrated on this hairy redneck's back(ah what you can do with a little imagination, duct tape, too much free time, and maybe a few drinks as well), we are down to 3 days till we leave for Myrtle Beach! I can't wait...I hope it lasts long too. We leave on Saturday and get back on Wed. afternoon, and chill out the rest of the week at home.

And also during that week, Billy and Dave will be going to Honduras (along with others from Stevens Creek). I am excited to see what is going to happen, and can't wait to hear the stories. As Billy posted on his blog, he wants God to blow their minds during this time. I believe these people are going to come back with a fire in the heart and a new passion in their life. They are going to come back and wake us up. God is up to something BIG!

Please pray for Billy, Dave, Joseph and all the others going on this mission trip.
